Dining Table

I wanted to create a finish for a dining table which should look elegant but also rustic. So I asked myself, is this possible?

The table was dark brown, had many spots and looked shabby and not shabby chic. It was used a lot, the leaves were blocked and with a false movie the whole table would crash – but I got it really cheap.

Antique white was my base color, umber for the accents. I added thin layers, took parts off, distressed the edges and legs.  Then I decided to add the elegant part, the fleur de lyss.

When it was done I was surprised myself, the combination of elegant and rustic was achieved.

I just had to find six matching chairs – I found them. Lucky I was indeed.

Dusty Rose Side Table

Refinished Side Table - Dusty Rose

Dusty Rose is my name. I am a side table made out of solid wood and I was painted in a style which was not really matching me.
Now someone came along and bought me and there I was, standing in a bedroom for months! Nothing happened. So I waited. And waited until 2 weeks ago. She came, took me and sanded down the horrible flowers which someone painted on my drawers and the top.  Then she painted me dark red and she added several layers of thin paint and glaze and sanded and distressed the wood – I thought it is  never ending! But it ended. And when the sealer was put on, I felt and looked so good.

Now I am sold. A nice lady bought me right after I was posted in an ad on Craigslist. I like my new place and I enjoy looking so rustic and shabby!

Bathroom Cabinet Before

Refinished bathroom cabinet

Are you planning Home Remodeling and are sitting on a tight budget??

Kitchen and bathrooms are in general the most popular places in a home which need to be remodelled after a while. They are the most used rooms too. So this is not surprising.Nowadays people are looking for great deals and the remodelling market has become a bargain paradise for tight budget owners. Let’s look how you can get your kitchen and batjroom cabinets redone without digging in your purse.Oak Cabinets used to be very popular and in older homes, especially homes from the 70s and 80s.

My clients had bought such a home and the bathroom had these great tiles but the color clashed with the oak wood. So what to do?
Refinishing is the best and most convenient what you can do these days unless you want to spent a lot of $$ on new cabinets. Staining is messy and leaves a bad smell for many days.  Faux Finishes are the alternative.

I was chosing for this bathroom a light distressed white faux finish, and it was done in less than 10 hours. If you have any cabinets in kitchen and bathroom which need a new look, faux finishing is the answer.
